2026 June Viewing Nights
The observatory hosted several viewing nights while Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter were all on display right next to each other just after sunset. To inquire about scheduling a private viewing night or see what public viewing nights are scheduled, please see our Events page.
| June 10 | Texas A&M Department of Physics & Astronomy Staff Night Our hardworking and very involved staff brought their families along to once again experience the Physics & Astronomy Teaching Observatory. Everyone arrived before sunset to enjoy the wilderness scenery and stayed to view Jupiter and Messier 3 through the 20" telescope. |
| June 11 | Mitchell Institute Physics Enhancement Program Viewing Night Every year, the Mitchell Institute hosts a two-week program for high school physics teachers, including a trip to the observatory. This year, attendees arrived at the observatory after astronomical twilight began, viewed Jupiter and the Hercules Cluster through the 20" telescope, and enjoyed the clear, breezy night. |
| June 12 | Camp Living Well Stargazing Night The Texas A&M Division of Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness hosts summer workshops and fun events for Texas A&M employees. This summer, Camp Living Well included a stargazing night at the observatory. Attendees enjoyed the sunset, birds, bunnies, and views of Jupiter and the Hercules Cluster through the 20" telescope. |
